Love their food.Ham is not too salty, best tasting potatoes . Their beef taste so good and the servings are huge. And it's less expensive that any breakfast diner.I also love their ambiance The owner is very friendly.Just have to be little patient because she mostly operates on her own but overall service is great Definitely one of our best breakfast spots.
What a nice little gem located in Fremont for silogs (Filipino breakfast containing garlic fried rice and egg with a protein). I had friends visiting from town and we were craving silogs so we figured this would be a good place to try that was nearby since we were on a bit of a time crunch, and it did not disappoint! Located next to the Amtrak station, it seems unassuming but once you step out of the car and walk towards the entrance, you get a whiff of the food and it smells so good! The interior is filled with vintage decor which I find kind of homey/fitting for a Filipino restaurant (kind of brings me back to how my grandparents would decorate) so the vibe is pretty chill. Came on a Saturday around 10am and it was already pretty busy and you can tell a lot of people were locals. The staff greeted us promptly and were very helpful with recs. We opted for the pork tocino and the homemade corned beef (but the staff highly recommended the lamb tocino as well so that might be a try next time I come back). The serving was actually quite big and we all left feeling pretty full. The tocino had a good flavor to it but the surprise of the meal was the corned beef. It was so tasty and tender and while I love the canned stuff, this homemade version was delicious and the texture made it really good. Definitely recommend! And of course, the garlic fried rice was seasoned well and definitely complimented the meats and the egg. The tomatoes were also a really nice touch. Overall very satisfied with East Bay Cafe Depot and would definitely come back if I wanted a silog and didn't want to make it myself.
Not a complaint, just wanted to set expectations. It's just 1 person, so be patient and don't go if you're on a time crunch. Food was great, Wendell was charming, definitely coming back!
The selfmade cornbeef and eggs plate is delicious. I ask for it crispy to have the cornbeef fried and crisped in it's own fat. It has such a nice and rich delicious fatty flavor, and then just sprinkle a little salt; chefs kiss. It can get really busy, but they do their best and still manage to take care of everyone.
I've had this cafe bookmarked for years now and I finally got to try it with my friend! Came in on a Saturday morning around 10 and waited around 10-20 mins to be seated. We both ordered the longanisaa with garlic rice and any choice of egg! It was amazing, definitely enjoyed all of it, they have a variety of food to choose from their menu as well as a drink menu! Staff is super friendly and welcoming! I love all the decorations they have inside their shop, would recommend and come again!
Had brunch here with my boyfriend the other day! We both didn't know about this place but my boyfriend was craving some filipino breakfast. East Bay Cafe Depot is located at the train station. It wasn't busy when we went in and there's plenty of tables. The decor of the cafe had a cozy and homey feel to it. The menu that they offer has a lot of variety. We went with Corned Beef and Pork Tocino breakfast plates. I personally really like the Corned Beef one a lot. It's homemade, represented a good, hearty meal. Would definitely recommend! Will definitely come back and try out some other items of the menu as well.
What a hidden gem! Located next to the Amtrak station, this little cafe has everything a train lover wants and needs. My little one loved the decor and jumped on his seat every time a train passed by. There is one hour, free public parking right outside the station. Go up the steps closer to the street side to find the cafe. It took me a minute! It's a one woman show, so please be patient! The owner is very sweet and kind. There's plenty of seating--you can sit down and order or just order at the counter and sit. They have traditional sandwiches and burritos but you can add a little Filipino twist by adding pork adobo! We got the pork tocino plate--it comes with garlic rice, two eggs (cooked however you like), and tomato. I also added a side of longanisa that was so delicious! 5/5! My son devoured his plate! When a toddler wolfs down his food, you know it's good. We'll definitely be back!
A hidden gem with limited hours. This is great for dates, a group long time no see type of meeting, or solo where you can sit at the counter with a tv hanging in the corner. There's a lot of nostalgia items here that's sure to please. This adds to a lot of character usually not found elsewhere. What's even more special are the owner couple and server who are actually happy to be there and want to converse with you. This feels somewhat rare these days and it's great to see a local business still hanging in there and be a part of the community. As for the food, the portions are big but the prices are considered reasonable! You can choose your egg style. It also looked like there are long time usual customers, as well as first timers like myself. The parking lot outside the station isn't a lot but for this lucky Saturday with no wait, it wasn't a problem. Maybe it's most of the kids being out of school and many are on vacation. They serve Equator coffee. It was weak though.
If you're looking for your comfort Filipino silog, this is the place to go! This restaurant was recommended to me by a friend. The restaurant is located at an old train depot right by one of the train stops. The shop is small and cozy, but gives you a home feeling with fulfilling your craving for a silog! Mom and pop shops are the bestttt. Quality of the food and prices are reasonable. I ordered the pork tocino with a side of longannisa. Hubby ordered sisig with lamb tocino. He said he probably wouldn't order the lamb again next time but everything else hit the spot. We met the owner while we were finishing up. They were friendly and personable. Will def come back when we are in the area.
